Chapbook Submissions
Deadlines: The open reading period for chapbook manuscripts is September 1 to November 15, 2017. Production of two chosen chapbook manuscripts will begin in January 2018 with release dates in February 2018 and June 2018.
The product: Seventy-five copies of each chapbook manuscript will be produced. Chapbooks will be hand-sewn and covers will be produced individually via letterpress. Each author will receive ten free copies of their chapbook and may purchase more at a reduced rate.
What to submit: We accept poetry, prose, hybrid work, and everything in between/above/below/beyond. Manuscripts must be between 25 and 50 pages. Prose should be double-spaced. Poetry should have no more than one poem per page. It is okay to submit work that has been partially published elsewhere, but the work as a whole should be previously unpublished. Submissions are open to all writers residing in or around Baltimore City.
Advice: Manuscripts do not have to be concerned with any particular subject, but those that are held together by some common theme and/or stylistic concern will likely be more successful. We are particularly interested in works created with the chapbook form in mind and which seem particularly suited to it.
Simultaneous submissions: We accept simultaneous submissions. We will respond to submissions within three months of receiving them.
How to submit: Submit manuscripts as an e-mail as Microsoft Word documents or PDF to [email protected]. Please use “Chapbook Submission: [Last Name]” as your subject line.
